How PUR Works

English | Español

How Does PUR Work?

PUR removes bacteria, viruses, parasites, as well as dirt and other sediments in only 30 minutes. Most low-cost water purification methods do not remove all three classes of pathogens: bacteria, viruses, and parasites. For example, most ceramic filters do not effectively remove viruses. Most disinfectants, such as chlorine or iodine-based disinfectants, may remove bacteria and viruses but only removes parasites with a long waiting time. However PUR is very effective in removing bacteria (99.99999% removal), viruses (99.99%) and parasitic cysts like Giardia and Cryptosporidium (99.9%). PUR also removes arsenic and DDT.

PUR is an easy-to-use product and there are only three steps.

1. Introduce a 4g sachet of PUR into 10 liters (2.5 gallons) of contaminated source water.

2. Stir well for 5 minutes and let the flocculent settle for an additional 5 minutes.

3. Use a thick, 100% cotton cloth without holes to filter the water.

After 20 minutes, your water is ready to drink or store.
